3 Things Every Man May Face In Middle Age

by Stella Robinson

Aging comes with hopefully some good wisdom, a lot of experience, and more than enough memories to fill an entire room. However, when it comes to your body, aging can wreak some serious havoc on it; especially if you are a man. If you have reached your fifties, and have noticed some unique changes to your body, then this article is for you. From erectile dysfunction to prostate exams, this article will discuss a few things every middle-aged man may experience.

1. Erectile Dysfunction

If you have noticed that you have a hard time performing sexually and getting an erection or having an erection that lasts long enough, then you may suffer from a condition called erectile dysfunction or ED. Luckily, there are several erectile dysfunction drugs like Viagra that you can take to help you get an erection and maintain it throughout intercourse. If you suffer from heart conditions or other health issues, make sure to consult your physician before you take any of these drugs.

2. Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is a condition in which men grow breast tissue which leaves them with a full chest that resembles breasts. Even though this may sound like your nightmare as a man, it is actually something that is very common both during puberty and in middle age. Why exactly? Hormones. An increase in hormones can increase your breast tissue production. Luckily, it should go away on its own. If not, there's a surgery for it.

3. Prostate Exam

If you haven't already gotten a prostate exam, make sure you schedule one with your doctor as soon as possible. Prostate cancer is a very common form of cancer in middle-aged men, and as long as it is caught early on, it can be very treatable. Even though a prostate exam may sound like a nightmare, it's certainly nothing to be worried about.

Both men and women experience a variety of physical changes as they age. If you are a middle-aged man and have noticed that your body is going through changes like erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia, or if you are worried about your prostate and prostate cancer, then schedule an appointment with your primary care physician today.

During your examination, your doctor can determine what treatments (if any) are necessary to help you start looking, acting, and feeling like your normal self again. To learn more about these conditions, schedule your appointment with your primary care physician today.
